We came without reservation for an early dinner and managed to get a table. Recommend to book in advance as there is a good crowd. The service was prompt. The food was delicious. The prawn sambal is a standout and dished over rice is wonderful. The chicken rendang was also good and very flavourful. The pricing is also very reasonable. Will come again!

We had a lovely dinner here that took us on a journey through the Nyonya cuisine. We enjoyed the Udang Masak Nenas, winged beans, two kinds of steamed okra and Rose Apple Kerabu, all accompanied by the mixed 3 kinds of rice. It was so delicious we ended up ordering seconds. For dessert we tried the sago gula Melaka and it was a perfect ending to our delicious dinner. We did not have a reservation but after a short wait the friendly staff was able to find us a table. The interior is cozy, eclectic and full of charming character. The owner was kind and even walked by our table to check in and say hello. Overall a delicious culinary journey that will make our stay in Penang memorable. Definitely will recommend to any locals or visitors alike.

I left the restaurant feeling full , satisfied and understand why so many people visit this restaurant. A popular restaurant is popular for a reason ! The dishes may looked simple but they are aromatic, rich in flavours yet balanced in sweet, spicy notes. I just want to reach for more lemongrass rice to pair with all the dishes. My favourite dish is the Mango salad, its so clean and fresh and very addictive! Had the opportunity to meet the owner of the restaurant and we chatted for a while. We can tell how much love and passion she has put into the business. Thank you for making us, especially my parents feel very welcome. Highly recommend this restaurant!

We ordered rose apple salad, snapper assam “spicy”, and chicken rendang (assam rendang). The fish soup was very tasty. Chicken dish must be eaten with rice to fully enjoy the sauce, same with the fish soup (we couldn’t because it was a bit late for us, got a 1.5-2h queue at custom T.T), but eating those 2 dishes with the salad was great as well. The salad helps alternates the palate between the spice and hot. Would recommend and would come back! Note to any group: please be mindful of other guests and lower your laugh (and voice). We were dining with a group and they were laughing really noisily in a pretty confined space.

Edit: February 20, 2026 Cambodian national dish, fish amok, is Malaysia’s equivalent to otak. I tried otak for the first time here today at Bibik’s Kitchen and they make it very good. If you are ever in Siem Reap, Cambodia, visiting the Angkor Wat Temple and have a craving for otak, just head to Malis Restaurant and order their fish amok and I can guarantee you that you’ll be satisfied. Their sago coconut milk dessert bubur cha cha is excellent. I went on a Sunday afternoon and I got a seat right away. I ordered a soup (fish maw and fishball), a mango salad, some rice, and a dessert. The fishball is of good quality but next time, I will only get fish maw. The salad had way too much mint leaves and it was making it taste bitter. About 70% less mint and 70% less shallots for the salad would be perfect. I thought that it could do with a little more sauce as well. The dessert was served warm, coconut milk with different colored sweet potatoes, sago, and banana. I really liked it.

Bibik’s Kitchen Nyonya Cuisine, a Michelin-starred restaurant, was recommended for its local cuisine. We arrived and were pleasantly surprised by the ambiance. We indulged in several ala carte dishes, starting with the Otak-otak, a flavorful and light fish cake wrapped in a leaf. We couldn’t resist ordering another one. Next, we savored the Fried Fish Sambal, accompanied by a delectable sauce. The Bubur Cha Cha, Lemongrass rice, and Assam Prawns were equally delightful. Each dish was a testament to the restaurant’s culinary expertise. The portions were small, allowing us to sample a variety of dishes beyond our usual limits.

Ayam Rendang, Assam Prawn, Steam Okra with Garlic, Rose Apple Kerabu, Pork Cincalok, Sago Gula Melaka and a few mentions not in the images posted: Sambal Petai and the Lemongrass, Blue Pea, Pandan Rice. These were all top tier and flavours were so well balanced. Elevated authentic home cooked style Peranakan flavours. I recommend to get the Kerabu as it pairs so well with all of the main dishes. I was really lucky to be able to try a small bowl of the Kiam Hu Kut Curry although it was sold out because I really wanted to try it and the owner was kind enough to squeeze out a little for me. The Kiam Hu Kut Curry is so special and flavourful. A must get! I would recommend this place to anyone who’s in Penang!

My wife and I had a good, enjoyable dinner with friends. We love Nyonya cooking and have a favourite place in town. Our friends like Bibik's and we joined them. We tried a bunch of dishes to share. My wife and I really enjoyed the Tau Ewe Bak (braised pork) and the steamed okra. The Kang Kung stir fry was a pretty delicious green add to the dinner. The Sambal Prawn and Petai and Chicken Rendang were nice, not spectacular. Service was spot on and prices were pretty reasonable. Can get really crowded and pretty noisy, but that doesn't take away from the taste of the food. We'll come back. But our favourite Nyonya place has not changed .
